botanical infusions

The medicinal plants in my castor oils are grown in my North Idaho garden or thoughtfully gathered from places I know well. I harvest in small quantities, dry the plants myself, and slowly infuse them into castor oil.

Each botanical brings its own character and history of traditional use.

• Mugwort — Warm
  Aromatic and warming, mugwort has a long history of traditional use around digestion, menstruation, and the pelvic body. I use both cultivated and locally gathered mugwort in this infusion.

• Motherwort — Settle
  Long used for matters of the heart, tension, and emotional steadiness, motherwort is one I often turn to when the body feels tightly held. I grow the motherwort used in these infusions myself.

• Violet — Soften
  Cool and gentle, violet has long been associated with the lymphatic system and with softening congested or tender tissues. I gather both the flowers and leaves for this infusion.

• Wild Rose — Tend
  Aromatic and softening, rose has a long history of tending both physical and emotional tenderness. I gather the rose used in these infusions by hand from the wild.

• Essential Oil Blend
  A woodsy blend of organic essential oils reminiscent of cedar and pine forests.

using your castor oil pack

Saturate your cotton compress with castor oil without allowing it to drip. Place it against your skin, commonly over the abdomen, and cover with an old towel. Add a warm water bottle or heating pad at a comfortable temperature.

Settle in for 20–60 minutes. Listen to the guided audio practice, read, or simply rest.

There's no prescribed schedule. Some people enjoy using their packs regularly, while others reach for them when they want a little more warmth and quiet.

caring for your pack

Store the used compress in a sealed bag in the refrigerator. Add fresh oil as needed before each use. With proper care, the cloth can typically be reused for 6–8 months.

The organic cotton compress has a protective PUL backing to help reduce leaks and may also be used as a replacement insert in many reusable castor oil wraps.

For external use only. Do not ingest. Avoid broken or irritated skin, and discontinue use if irritation develops. Take care with heated items. If pregnant, breastfeeding, managing a medical condition, or uncertain about use, consult your healthcare provider.
