about
some of my story
I found a deep love for nature at a young age. Solitary adventures through the sagebrush-lined canyon creek by my home, an off-grid activist lifestyle, and frequent dance instruction fastened me to the values I live by to this day.
By nature, I am an experimenter who prefers not to get fixed with any one style. I thrive in the ever-shifting space where research, wildcrafting, dance choreography, gardening, and attentive listening to plants intersect and inspire one another.
Over the years, the plants growing around me have become more noticeable, and I have learned to pay closer attention. The more I observe, the more I realize I am being called onto a plant path. Like a mirror reflecting shared truths, my plant teachers have reminded me of my first love—dance—and the sacred geometry also found in the moving body.
I have been blessed with many wonderful teachers in my lifetime. Each has helped me remember my place within the intelligent patterns of the natural world. My teachers have come in the form of parents, elders, mentors, activists, and, of course, my 10-year-old daughter.
My most significant training came from the late great naturopathic physician Todd Schlapfer, NMD, at Coeur d’Alene Healing Arts Clinic, where I served as the lead Patient Liaison and Patient Specialist for over nine years. Additionally, I have studied with various herbalists and wildcrafters in Idaho and Washington, including Darcy Williamson, Suzanne Tabert, Barbara St. Dennis, Michael Pilarski, and Saja Popham.
In 2017, I was introduced to a unique dance-based practice called WildCore™. I immediately resonated with WildCore movement and became a certified instructor in 2018. The WildCore training and community have fueled my creativity and provided valuable tools to incorporate movement into my Lapis Sky offerings.
Recently, I’ve been studying under Kaila June through her Integrative Movement and Somatics program, Somatic Groundwork™. This practice explores natural movement and patterning from the inside out and ground up, in relation to ground, gravity, and space. I have found this experiential practice highly effective in refining my body’s sensory awareness and systems sensing capabilities—allowing me to connect more deeply with plants and maintain active attention and presence for better movement quality in my daily life.
Spending time with plants and reconnecting with my fluid-sensing body has been a soul redeemer during some of the most challenging chapters of my life. Naturally, I am now blending the two—plants and movement—in a way that I can share this multifaceted patterning with others.
If this raises more questions than answers, know that I am eager to address those questions and help you determine if my offerings are a good fit.
In light,
Korrine Sage
